Interasia’s June 16-18 Auctions
Interasia’s June 16-18 auctions of China, Hong Kong and Asian stamps and postal history will take place at the Excelsior Hotel in Causeway Bay in Hong Kong. The three-day, 2,500-lot sale includes another outstanding offering of China and Hong Kong stamps and postal history, with important Ching Dynasty and Republic, substantial postal history, Taiwan, Tibet, and a large offering of People’s Republic and Liberated Areas. Hong Kong and Treaty Ports alone comprises 500 lots, while the Other Asian Countries includes another significant North Korea offering.
Coming on Interasia’s tenth anniversary, the auctions feature the two iconic stamps of China and Hong Kong - the 1897 Red Revenue Small One Dollar and the mint 96c. Olive-Bistre. Completing Interasia’s “trifecta” is the earliest recorded cover bearing the stamps of Imperial China - the October 5, 1878 envelope from Peking to Shanghai bearing a Large Dragon 5 candarin pair and single - anticipated to realize the highest price ever for a Chinese cover (presale estimate US$900,000-1,150,000).
