John is a familiar figure to most collectors of Ireland and has exhibited extensively over the past 40+ years. His collection contains wide selections of the popular Dollard, Alex Thom and Harrison printings, replete with errors and varieties, covers, large multiples and incredible number of full sheets of Seahorses with Irish overprints.

1922 unofficial overprints "Irish Free State Prov. Govt", 1/2d green and 2p orange, the latter with overprint inverted, tied by locally addressed cover by Kingstown 17 January 1922 cds, addressee's name obliterated, fine and interesting item, illustrated in Cyril Dulin's "Ireland's Transition" and believed to be the only example with inverted overprint on cover

All copies were stained, possibly because of oil spilled on the stamps while in transit)
