Cherrystone Auctions The Confino Family Collection of United States
We are pleased to present the United States Collection of unused singles, plate blocks and postal stationery cards formed by the late Sam Confino. Sam meticulously built his collection in the 1960s-80s, filling his want list through New York Area dealers and auctioneers. Sam was especially delighted when he could add an unused rarity to his collection, especially the 1857 5c brick red and 5c red brown (both with original gum) or that elusive Coil Pair including Scott 317, 318, 322 and 449. Over the years Sam was able to acquire many rarities, including an unused 1851 5c, the 4c Columbian Error of Color, imperf. 5c error, 4c and 8c Bluish Paper, 2c A.E.F. booklet pane, Plate Blocks (including Zeppelins), Postage Dues, Officials and much more.
The sale contains 248 lots, with several large lots which include balances of the collection. Virtually all of the single items are accompanied by Philatelic Foundation certificates (most updated in 2015), where necessary. Live Internet bidding is available through our website www.cherrystoneauctions.com (via CherrystoneLIVE).
