1847 Entire letter from Colombo to London 'per Overland mail via Galle & Marseilles' handstamped black "COLOMBO STEAMER-LETTER/JA 10/1847" cds (Proud SL7) and red '25 FE 1847' arrival cds on the reverse, and with red wax seal, fine. The letter sent by H. Bellamy Webb (who has just reached Ceylon, apparently to work as a banker, and who described his journey via Suez) and addressed to Messers Baring Brothers & Co., London.
