1865, MAIL LOST IN A DILIGENCIA: 1/2 Real blue on bluish paper, fresh colour and good/wide margins tied by red numeral "3154" and matching red "QUITO 16 MAR (1872)" cds alongside on cover sent to Rio Bamba. On reverse a manuscript note: "This is the letter we thought was missing and which was found on the seat of the carriage of St. Garcia" (translated), cert. B. Moorhouse (2009). Lot #9487 - Ecuador
1865, 1 Real green with cancel "GUAYAQUIL 13 ENE 65", clear and central strike. The stamp has some faults but this is the EARLIEST REGARDED USAGE OF THE 1 REAL GREEN, only TWO EXAMPLES ARE RECORDED (the other stamp in similar condition). The first issue of Ecuador was issued in january 1865. Cert. Brian Moorhouse.

1865, Four copies of 1/2 Real grey-blue, normal Paper (two different shades) tied by diamont-dotts cancel on full entire letter sent to Lima with b/s arrival "LIMA 17 JUL 1874", stamps in fresh colour and all with large margins on three sides, very rare letter in fresh and superb condition!

1866, 4 reales red VARIETY PRINTED ON BOTH SIDES, unused no gum in very fine condition. This rare stamp is according to the catalogue issued by the Banco Central del Ecuador: "es seguramente la pieza mas rara de la filatelia ecuatoriana". Scott #6c, Michel #4 DG. Certificate Pascal Scheller.
