Happy Bidding,
Richard Allan
Firstly, all of us at Richard Allan would like to wish you a happy, peaceful and healthy new year.
Our first auction of the year is crammed with “goodies” so if Santa didn’t fulfil your wishes, now is the time to treat yourself.
This auction begins with a broken down foreign Kabe collection, then the ever popular 1935 and 1948 Omnibus sections. This is followed on by the A-Z country lots of singles, sets, covers, postmarks, varieties and collections where you can find the basics, the unusual and the seldom offered items.
A piece of historic philatelic information that may mean more to GB collectors is that the Chas Nissen 1d black reconstruction sheets that formed the basis of the well known plating book will be kept intact. This consists of 2,700 individual 1d black stamps.
It was offered for sale and we were fortunate enough to secure it for a client as opposed to a dealer purchasing the collection and splitting it, so that’s great news for the philatelic population.
There were some gaps on the Plate 11 reconstruction, so we would be delighted to hear from you if you have any for sale.
Enjoy the auction and we look forward to hearing from you,
Another great catalogue is here containing many scarcer and difficult to locate items.
The sections that are well represented are 1935 S.Jubilee, Wreck Covers, Albania, Andorra, Hong Kong, India & States, Ireland, Italian States and Nyasaland with lots more interesting items throughout, especially postmarks.
This 309th Richard Allan October auction may be a little smaller than usual but we are fortunate to be able to offer many more fine items from “THE ASQUITH COLLECTION”.
This includes some very scarce items such as a Bechuanaland Green Surcharge SG23c, 1933 Falkland Island Centenary Set, Hong Kong $10 SG F3 mint, Italian States/Naples 20 grana lake SG6 mint, Labuan errors, Mafia Island & a Trindad SG 1 5c blue Lady McCleod.
There are also hundreds of other interesting items & we can send scans or photocopies of items not illustrated.
Stampex was again brisk showing that the stamp market is still very “lively” for desirable material so “seek & ye shall find”.
