lot # 1589 - United States "Back of the Book" Stamps and Postal History
MR1TC, 1892 1c + 1c Paid reply postal card, Trial color proofs, remarkable assortment of 46 unsevered cards and 8 severed cards (making 16 halves), in a range of different colors and papers, some with top of card nearest to fold (a, b) and a few with bottom of card nearest to fold (c), some identified in pencil by Ridgway color, some with stamp defaced by three vertical or horizontal purple bars handstamp, two defaced with two parallel diagonal red pen strokes, appears to be little (if any) duplication, minor faults to be expected (couple cards reinforced with hinges), still Very Fine overall and certainly near-impossible to duplicate, the perfect foundation for a definitive collection of this issue (Scott UY1TC; USPCC MR1TC, $9,200+, severed cards not figured)
