French Post Offices in the Levant, Egypt 1874 (May 30): Envelope from Minie via Alexandria to Paris, bearing Cérès 80 c. rose in a combination franking with Egypt 1 pi. rose red (Gi 31), two fine and fresh examples. Upon despatch in Minie the Egyptian adhesive was tied by "POSTE VICE-REALI EGIZIANE MINIE 30 MAG 74" cds with an information strike alongside. The French definitive was toed by a Gros Chiffres '5080' numeral lozenge with "ALEXANDRIE EGYPTE 1 JUIN 74" despatch cds and framed PD in red alongside. Reverse with "POSTE EGIZIANE CAIRO" and "POSTE EGIZIANE ALESSANDRIA" transit (May 30) as well as indistinct Paris arrival cds's. Cover with some wrinkles, nevertheless an appealing combination cover from a small Egytian office, signed Calves.
