Force, c/o Indian Office, London", returned with the scarce violet cachet "UNDELIVERED THROUGH / CAPITULATION AT KUT". The Iraqi city of Kut-el-Amara surrendered to the Turks on April 29th after a siege of 144 days, over 6,000 Indian and 2,000 British troops becoming P.O.Ws. Photo on Page 85.
