This new Public Auction contains many interesting and valuable stamps from all parts of the Empire!
• Great Britain includes high value 10/- large squares, Sea Horses to the £1 and a good Officials section.
• British West Indies has key Antigua stamps; Bahamas shows an 1865 1/- in unusual “superb” quality; Barbados features a unique ½d double overprint (both in black) ex-Ferrary; a Bermuda highlight is a KGV 2/6d in bright orange-vermilion; British Guiana features classic perforated issues; Grenada has the all-but-impossible second issue Postage Due set, mint (a different set than last time!); Turks Island shows a nice range of overprints.
• British Africa is very well represented, including Bechuanaland 4d on 4d, 26 (25), a great used rarity; Cape of Good Hope shows a nice 1/- yellow-green Triangle, mint, and the scarce ½d on 3d overprint, wmkd CC, mint; Egypt weighs in with 50pi Port Fouad, mint and used; there are over two dozen large Madagascar Consular Mail stamps; Natal features a 1/- green “Postage.”, used, 25 (43); Niger Coast features a very scarce mint 27 (336) ½d on 2½d; many rare Togo overprints to the 1M; and a large range of Zanzibar overprints finishes the continent.
A careful review should reveal many useful items!
